Repeater Unit with Ethernet
In MainNet's PLUS system, RpEPLUS is an Ethernet-enabled repeater unit that re-transmits, as well as routes and controls the received signal – thereby extending the reach of communication between the head-end and the end-user. Featuring MainNet’s dynamic routing algorithm, the RpEPLUS uses the least-cost path to ensure the best communication quality.
RpEPLUS may be installed wherever an Ethernet connection is required, and is typically used to connect Smart Grid applications (electronic meters, surveillance devices, etc.), or to extend WiFi coverage by connecting Wi-Fi Hotspots to the communication server center. The unit communicates with a nearby network component, enabling the combined use of Smart Grid applications with broadband access solutions – within the same BPL/PLC network. RpEPLUS is remotely managed by MainNet's network management system, NmPLUS.
